Hello! I’m Frannie, a literary agent at The Caldwell Agency. I am currently building a list of adult fiction and nonfiction.

Previously, I represented historians and historical fiction authors as a co-agent at a boutique literary agency. I also interned with Creative Media Agency, Inc.. While pursuing my MFA in Creative Writing Fiction, I supported programming and operations for public health professionals and scientists at a university. As an agent, I am especially eager to represent authors who explore the margins of history books, both in fact and fiction. I am the secretary of the Young Publishers Association (YPA).

As an author, I write historical fiction and can be found browsing old newspapers or spouting historical knowledge at random. My short stories have been published in North American Review and Berkeley Fiction Review, and my children’s plays are available in The Drama Notebook.

Agenting Approach
(what to expect)

The author-agent relationship is a partnership, and I view myself as your career partner and teammate. I love to brainstorm, and if you ever feel stuck, we’ll hop on a call and chat through it!

Collaborative

1

When projects need an editorial eye, I roll up my sleeves. Expect two to three editorial rounds before a work is submitted to publishing houses. I often provide in-line comments and an accompanying editorial letter. Most of my feedback is in the form of questions and meant to prompt ideas. I see my notes as the beginning of a conversation.

Editorially Hands-On

2

My priority is not just the work you submitted, but your author career. When I offer representation for a project, I’m always thinking about your career, and how I can help you achieve your goals. Goals change and evolve, but they will always be a vital part of our conversation.

Literary Stewardship & Education

4

I prioritize education around the publishing process. I want you to feel empowered, and being well-informed is no small part of that. If there’s something I don’t know, I do everything I can to become a subject matter expert. I see myself as a small part in a bigger literary community, and I strive to build bridges and connections where I can.
